LECOM's dental school enrolls a large and diverse class of 124 dental students every year. Out of the thousands of applications LECOM receives, they can accept only a small fraction of applicants.

LECOM has a strict minimum DAT score requirement of 16 for all applicants, but expects competitive applicants to have at least a 19 in each section.
Required Prerequisites for LECOM's School of Dental Medicine
Like many dental schools, LECOM has specific prerequisite coursework and experience requirements that applicants must complete before matriculating.
Applicants are recommended to have a total of 100 hours of dental shadowing, with the majority being completed with a general dentist.
LECOM Course Requirements:
• 8 credits of General Biology
• 3 credits of Biochemistry
• 8 credits of General Chemistry
• 8 credits of Organic Chemistry
• 6 credits of English/Composition courses
Prerequisites and other coursework may be taken at a community college. LECOM does accept Advanced Placement (AP) credits for prerequisite coursework if the AP score was three or higher. Laboratory components are required for all prerequisite courses except Biochemistry and the English courses.
In regards to letters of recommendations, LECOM requires a minimum of two letters of recommendation: two letters of recommendation from science professors and applicants may submit an optional letter of recommendation from a dentist. Applicants may substitute a committee letter in place of the science professor letters.
Before matriculating, students must undergo a criminal background check.

LECOM's School of Dental Medicine received a total of 3,784 applications this past cycle. While the chart may make it appear that LECOM favors in-state applicants, LECOM states that it does not give preference based on residency. Instead, they prioritize applicants whose values and professional goals align with the mission of the dental school.
The LECOM School of Dental Medicine only accepts students who are U.S. Citizens or Permanent residents.
